to the moderator: I exceeded my upload limit again and still a few museum .30M1s are coming.

Can you please give me some more room on the server for this research work? Thanks.

@New2Brass:
Thanks a lot, I'll upload the rest.

@W5USMC:
I investigated that flash hider thoroughly, so far found no markings.
I'm not sure it is original. Need to have a few more of them in my hands.

By the way, here is a nice website devoted on the 104th: 104th Infantry Division - National Timberwolf Pups Association.

We continue with the National Postal meter police .30M1 of the topic above.

Underside of the operation rod chamber has a number marking. Never saw that before

Some markings on the inside of it.

The cleaned parts

A rubber buttplate

The rubber buttplate is actually quite thick.

Its a later "Type V"
see http://www.uscarbinecal30.com/slides.html

For a deeper discussion of identifying the design changes for the club data sheet, its L379.

Next Carbine:
A Winchester with folding stock (that can still fold). So it's not original. S/N 1259563 (Oct '43)
Barrel marking: AI 2-64 (replaced by Dutch artillerie inrichtingen arsenal)
2 30 shot magazines (forgot to check marking) attached to each other with some sort of clip.

W marking on hammer

IO marking on handguard (Overton)

.U. marking (Underwood)

Thanks for the good info on the flash hiders. Again....a very nicely documented topic.
I didn't saw any of the markings on it. So I suspect it to be an aftermarket example.

Wow, thanks for sharing. Very interesting information. My great uncle was killed in the Ardennes offensive, around the village of Lutrebois, Belgium New years eve 1944. He was in Company L 134th Infantry.

Hi Rebel,
Thanks for your reaction and sharing the information on your great uncle. You're always welcome to visit our museum in Achtmaal in the mid-south of the netherlands (dedicated to the U.S. 104th). We have lots of personal gear and accessories to see in the museum.
