If you have a U.S. Carbine imported from Italy or returned by Italy to the U.S. Army and sold thru CMP, please check the buttplate and let us know if yours has the buttplate depicted below.

GI buttplates have 12 columns. These have 14.

Don't let the one in the center below fool ya. It was apparently taken at an angle I couldn't straighten. All rows and columns are there. Work from the bottom up...

Thanks much!

Jim

My eye obviously hasn't been trained.  What makes the two different?  (I ask as I have one of the Italian MIDWAY imports.)

Sorry ... the one on the left is the one depicted on our web page as an unknown. The one on the right was found on a recent Italian return.

They are the same.

One standout is these have 14 columns of dots versus the normal 12 found on GI buttplates having rows and columns of dots.

Ah.  Thank you.  The one I just received from MIDWAY has 12 rows and looks like the 3rd one listed for Winchesters.

This is not the buttplate you are looking for.

My Midway has the 12 rows, but no other manufacturers marks.  It is on an Underwood stock, on a Standard Products rifle...which seems to correlate with the information on the buttplates page.
