Van, could you post closeup pics of the CC Ordnance stamp and the inside of the sling well? Also, is the stock varnished? It sure looks nice.

I'll post some pics when I get home tonight . . . is the "CC Ordnance Stamp" the somewhat faint stamp that looks like a Springfield Armory stamp/logo found on the right side of the stock?

Yes, I can see it at an angle in one of your other pictures but to check it out properly I need to see it straight on. It's the cross cannon with the belt around them. The closer, the better.

Hmm, I believe you have a wartime production potbelly there. Are there markings in the slingwell?
I do not think your ordnance stamp is Springfield Armory, but an ordnance stamp never the less.

Are the blocked out portions "personal details" if so no problem.  But you have my curiosity up.

The barrel was made by Brown Lipe Chapin division of GM for Inland.

Jack, Check out those dowel repairs. Somewhere I saw this as an accepted repair.

Dan, I frequently see "Dutchman" repairs on carbine stocks. I have one on a Robert W. Irwin wartime replacement stock I have. Whatacountry.com has a couple of Underwood stocks with such repairs. Here's an example:

This is is the first time I've see a dowel plug repair like this. Very well done!
