Hello everyone,
I picked this up from my Gunsmith. He didn't have a need for it and sold it to me for $65. I would like to know if it is real or a reproduction. Your brutally honest opinion is respectfully requested. All the IBM Receivers I have seen have had the “BE-B” marking, read from top to bottom from the REAR View. However, this one has a marking of “B-BE” (with a sideways number 1 as the dash) and is read from Bottom to Top from the Front View. (I used Flower packed into the lettering to make it more visable) I have gone through past post on strange markings and only found 1 reference to an IBM B-BE marking on trigger guards. In the same post there was a mention of different types of markings for the "-" in between the letters. Could someone please tell me if I just wasted $65 and as my departed father use to say “Bought Something I Can’t Eat” (Big Smile) Very respectfully, Da1Chief |

No, you did not waste your $65. Both markings are legit.

Yup! There were a couple of variations of the BE-B/B-EB markings.

to me the BE-B in big letters with no bed in between tend to be earlier guns---I have to admit it looks like a sideways one-never thought of it in those terms--was a bed to me

Marcus, that is the third one that I've seen where the dash appears to be a 1. It is unusual, but they are out there.

CCNL 329-7 stated BE-B, B-EB with some data sheets the dash looking like an I. If you look real close you will see it is neither a 1 or an I There are also some that were electro penciled.

There was an unfounded rumor going around years ago that one size and/or style of font went to Standard Products and another style stayed with IBM. Amazing how stuff like that gets started.
