Howdy Carbine devotees and thanks for allowing me into your membership. My name is Pete and I reside in the State of Delaware at the present time.
My interest in the US Carbine Cal 30 first began when on active duty in the US Air Force, Air Police/Security, SAC, 8th Air Force, Headquarters. It was 1962 and we were issued 1911A1, .45 cal. semi-automatics and M2 Carbines. The M2 was a fun weapon, and being stateside was only fired when either qualifying or upon group request for range time. Being in my early twenties I loved to tinker with anything mechanical and soon was field stripping mine, cleaning and caring for it. From 1962 until about mid 1964 when we were issued the first M16 (AR15 at the time) I never had a failure of any nature with my M2. After departing the USAF one of my first ventures was to locate and purchase an M1 Carbine. I came across a pre-owned, probably fired very little, pristine National Postal Meter, which I purchased for $75.00. I've owned several since but the NPM remains my very favorite. Thanks again, Pete |

Welcome to the forum, Pete. $75 for your NPM Carbine, I would say that you bought it quite some time ago.

Hi Pete and welcome from New Mexico, the 47th state!
My first carbine, a Winchester, cost $60 in 1963. I wish I still had it. |

Welcome, Pete.
My first Carbine was $195, a Winchester purchased in the 50th state in 1984. Still love that rifle... David Albert dalbert@sturmgewehr.com |

Welcome, Pete! Glad to see that you kept your M1 30 carbine interest alive for so long. I got the bug when I was in the military back in 1971 and got to fire one at the range. I always remember the fun of shooting that carbine. But, I never got around to buying one until last year. Then I added a second one recently. What a hoot to own and shoot.
