I have two Carbines, I worked up 700 rounds to add to my inventory for used in both rifles.

Thanks for posting your loads. I've been a handloader since I was a teenager (40+ years) but am totally new to the M1 Carbine and its cartridge.

W296 and H110 load about the same. I use 14.7-grains of either. I have lots of the old H108 and load 12.7-grains of that. Been a long time since I chron’d, but I know these are safe loads.
I load 16.3-grains of 110 or 296 under a couple of 85-grain projectiles that chrono right at 2500. One is a hollow-point and the other JLRN. I am just picking up .308 projectiles where I find them in what weights (110 and below) and profiles I can get at a decent price.

I stumbled across some plated 110-grain stuff for 8-cents a bullet including shipping and grabbed it. I ran across some more of the very same bullets yesterday for closer to 20-cents. You can find projectiles for close to 20-cents, but by the time you add up the other costs and labor associated with reloading, the savings diminish rapidly over commercial costs.

Hi Maybe a silly question: Which would be the closest civilian bullet to the WWII regulation bullet? By this I mean in shape looking like. |

Don’t know of anyone that has for sure examined the profiles of all commercial 110-grain FMJ loads, but it seems Armscorp exhibits a broader nose. Fiocchi is very close.

I have no idea, one would need to see a pulled projectile from 1941. My selections are chosen for their relevance to modern needs. The 110 grain RN SP performs much like the military 5.56 NATO M193 and M855 in soft targets. The 110 grain FMJ performs like the M193 in soft armor to 100 yards.

I went rummaging in some of my stuff and found those. Still I do not know which is closer to the .30 carbine original bullet shape and material wise but I found that the 110gr NORMA has a close profile. I do not have GFL (Fiocchi ) or Armscor. Here some pictures: I have to add that I never reloaded this caliber, just happen to have those...
