In the CCNLs (192, 196) there were 17 different marked muzzle covers reported.
The War Baby! 3 page has 15 variation (not including one reproduction)
Combined there are 22 different markings.

Two new markings have surfaced.

Hamelco/1944.
Hamelco Co. out of Port Chester NY had contracts for Web Harnesses, combat field packs, and duffel bags.

http://www.uscarbinecal30.com/forum/uploads/5600/SR_Hamelco1.JPG

http://www.uscarbinecal30.com/forum/uploads/5600/SR_Hamelco2.JPG

The stylized name would lead you to believe it is a combined name of Hamxxx Electric Co.
Below the name with date removed
http://www.uscarbinecal30.com/forum/uploads/5600/SR_Hamelco.jpg

All indications show the name was in fact Hamelco. The produced canvas items for both WW2 and Korean war.

Next we have Lyon & Coulson/1944. The name is partially obscured, but contracts were found for the company out of Buffalo NY. They produced ruck sacks and combat field packs.

http://www.uscarbinecal30.com/forum/uploads/5600/SR_Lyon.JPG
http://www.uscarbinecal30.com/forum/uploads/5600/SR_Lyon1.JPG

Both companies located  in NY. Both examples observed have United Carr fasteners, though others may be possible.
Looking through muzzle covers the United Carr fasteners often had very week stampings and sometimes they appear to have not stamping.
http://www.uscarbinecal30.com/forum/uploads/5600/IMG_0228.JPG

These were short lived items. As we learn from CCNL 383-11 this was replaced by "Tape, cellulose, muzzle."

On the known muzzle covers there is B.L '44 which I have observed. then there is B.B. Co. '44 and B.B. Co. 1944. Has anyone observed the latter two, or is this an error in reporting?

Has anyone observed any other markings that have not been reported?

I haven't gone through them in a while but here's what I have wrote down for my collection.  As far as I know they are all genuine but I have been fooled before. Note some are same mfg but another year so if I counted right I come up with 26 mfgs plus one unmarked.   As a side note, I read Lyon & Coulson are the makers of the L&C M6 scabbards.  Let me know if you want me to get these out and look at something specific.

Here's a website with some mfgs.  I think they are a French site.  They have a few more and additional years.  I do believe their "Bobey" is Robey later in the list.  As we all know sometimes the ink stamps are hard to read.

Haven't done any pics in a while.  Let's try groups...  Next to bottom, 3rd from left has no mfg. I flipped them directly over to show orientation of back mfg stamps versus US.

Sam, Thanks for posting pics.
I started a list and added what you have along with what was on the list from the French site.
They have a lot of 1943 dates listed, but they use the term "manufacturing Information" which may have been contract dates.

So I did not add any 1943 that I have not see a picture of or prior reports.
We are up to 37 marking variations
The list I noted what if from the LR collection. I will be taking pictures of these and will post them
The rest that are marked "Need Pic" I would welcome any decent closeups of as well as anything we missed.

the last column I noted the fastener markings. As stated I believe the unmarked in many cases is United Carr. Given the limited number I have observed I would expect there be other manufacturers used. If you look at the Champion Canvas, both United Carr and Scoville were used.

I was not familiar with Tape, Cellulose, Muzzle Cover.
Here's some photos which came from an original package sold on ebay at some point in the past.

@Matt, great find!

@sling00, if you could email pics of both sides. I will crop and size and join the front and back so all pictures are the same size for posting.

Well again I learned something from this group. and that's a good thing (Big Smile)

First I learned that to keep water out of the barrel, I assume, during landings instead of the normal prophylactic.  Tape across the barrel was used.

Second is that the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company is actually the 3M Company that I have known all my life. (Never knew what 3M stood for)

Once again, Thank you to the members of this forum...  I learn something new almost every day.

Very respectively,
Da1 Chief
Very respectfully,

Good catch!  Never noticed that before.  One of mine has the straight sided E and no space in MFG.CO.

I agree, looks great.

Feel free to do whatever with the photos I posted.  They came from a 'worthpoint' webpage which captured an older ebay sale.

I think @Da1Chief is probably correct when he wrote the tape was for beach landings.
This is just a guess on my part, but it makes sense that the tape would be intended for situations where
 a) Very large numbers of small arms needed protection at the same time.
 b) The arms and soldiers were in a relatively clean environment.

Out on campaign, especially in muddy or snowy conditions, the canvas covers likely are much easier to use when there is no real dry and clean shelter.   Odds are they wouldn't get shot through, but could be if needed.

Contrast that with a beach landing or similar operation where it would be considered likely a fair number of the covers to get shot through.

Be great if we can find any photos, accounts, or official documentation on the tape's use.

Two photos of the canvas muzzle covers in use appear in the Photo of the Day thread.

We've posted two images in the Photo of the day thread showing the canvas covers in use.   Cool

A few of the duplicate muzzle covers from the LR collection will be listed on eBay.
The ones that are pictured in the other thread and say Larry Ruth Collection will eventually be listed
We would consider offers on them. It would be nice if they stayed together in someones collection, if not we are open to offering them individually.
