I just won an on-line auction for a slightly rough but still presentable Saginaw S'G'!!!! 850 smackers! and it has a lot of S'G'/IP parts in it. The barrel is a correct Buffalo Arms barrel and the front sight is marked only with a 2 on the side! I'm hoping that the auction house has it at the local branch (about 30 miles away) If so, I'll probably go there tomorrow with a copy of my C&R and pick it up. I've been trying to get an S'G'/IP for some time now to fill that final gap in the set. I've made guys offers of more than double that amount for other rebuilds and been turned down. I guess patience finally paid off.

Was that the one on Gunrunner?  I was real close to bidding on it.  I was thinking of going to 1k but now I know it went to someone here I’m glad I didn’t bid.

The bolt, slide, rear sight and barrel band are wrong, but almost everything else is either S'G' or IP. I was surprised at how much was right when I went through it today and filled out a data sheet. Beezer, yes it was the one on Gun Runner. If you had bid 1k all you would have accomplished is to drive my bid upwards. I actually bid just a bit higher than that. No import marks on it either. The bore is better than they indicated. ME is just a bit over 2 and it doesn't come close to closing on a field gauge. And there are no stake marks at all on the rear sight! The finish is pretty worn, but it is a candidate for restoration. And Don.....I got it AND a Winchester M1 for less than that idiot at OGCA was asking for his "Blue Sky" S'G'!

Always interested in S'G' pics. Does anyone want to post the serial for the spread sheet that I keep?
My sig: Seen an IP or S'G'? Add it to my registry. We'll check consecutives.

You did great!  The auction pictures looked good but I’m sure they didn’t do them justice.  I’ve seen Iver Johnson’s on that auction go for more than what you paid.  Now it’s my turn to roll the dice and try to steal one like you just did.  Congrats, so glad it was someone here that got it for that low.
