WANTED: Looking for original GI M1 Carbine IBM rear flip sight. no fakes.
"IN B" can be base only no spring and arpeture part. Or, the same but "W-B" marked. Have a complete IBM with correct parts but lacks the correct flip sight. receiver was never swaged for an adjustable sight. |

What sight is on it now? If it is a GE-Q, it might be original if it is in the right serial number group.

Hello,
No, I have the odd sight., it seems to be shaped right. The parts look legit, but the "I N B" marking is nothing like all the usual real ones. Maybe someone added their own? It may be an unmarked sight that some clever guy added his own markings to?

Can you post pictures? It may be a real INB sight.

Medic, after reviewing your other post, if it were mine I'd leave your oddly marked "I N B" sight in place, especially if the carbine otherwise appears original. I think it's USGI and likely original to the carbine. Here's why I have this opinion:
- as others noted the base appears USGI - leaf wear pattern, unlikely to be faked and no classic signs of a fake in the leaf construction. - On the right dovetail edge, the staking deformed the metal and if the original flip were knocked off this probably would have been disturbed - usually when the original flip is removed and replaced one can tell because the dirt and grime around the base and underneath are disturbed or removed, in your pictures I see no signs of that. Also there are no fresh scratch marks around the dovetail and bottom of the dovetail that likely would have been made when changing sights several times. Now could someone have carefully done all this without disturbing anything? Put on a fake sight that looks real, but none of us have ever seen another with that pattern? I suppose, but it's pretty unlikely. IMHO, respectfully. |

Thank you for all these thoughts. If only I could get this kind of thinking and effective break down of a problem with taxes!!!!!
Since, I'm not rich (going back to taxes again??)I'll leave the sight. I agree just because it doesn't look like the others, does not make it wrong. and I can save $200 plus for any sight I might find. Chris
