Was watching this ammo box on GB earlier this week, I think the price got a little crazy as it sold for $314. Anyone notice something wrong with it??

Don't think they all had eagles, looking for something really obvious.

Box is RA and lid is WCC!
That's a hefty price for just the crate. I once bought a full crate for a little more than that. |

Yep that's it!, Crazy price for sure and to think my wife thought I was nuts when I paid $60 for an empty LC box a few months ago.

There's a box of similar construction for sale on CMP right now. From ad: Korean War Era M1 Carbine Empty Ammo Create
M1 Carbine 1200rd. Empty Wooden Ammo Create For Sale. Lid is marked (SMALL ARMS AMMUNITION WRA LOT 22783). Side is marked (1200 Cal. .30 CARB IN 10 RD CLIPS) (TACAL) (LOT WRA 22783). Face side is marked (1200 CARTRIDGES CAL .30 CARBINE IN 10 RD CLIPS BANDOLIERS) (TACAL) (BALL M1 51 W1 75CU LOT WRA 22789) with a flaming bomb and DOD stamp. Winchester Repeating Arms Company. Korean War era. Inspection tags and a caution card remain in the create. Excellent condition, threaded U rods and wing nuts are intact. Approximately 10”x15”x9” It has an eagle in square in ink that looks like an overstamp. I can't speak to the claimed Korean War era manufacture date. One label inside has a 1967 printing date, and looks to me like the handwritten date (last use?) is 1987. Also inside are two Feb 1987 inspection stamps. Pictures here. probably should download and save for reference. Hot linking a few of them for convenience. |
