Attached is a photo of a recoil plate I encountered. It appears to have a raised marking that I can't quite make out. Possibly an O with an I on the left side inside of the O, or a D. Has anyone seen one of these before, or know what it is? This is a type III recoil plate, not cast.

It is actually a cast recoil plate, flip it over and you may be able to see the part line. I have seen what you are calling a marking on the right side as well. It is probably the artifact from when the mold is filled. |

Dan, is this the marking you referred to? These are cast recoil plates. You can see voids and parting lines.
