I’m a first time carbine owner. Hope to learn from you all. I picked up a Winchester today and will post pics once I figure out how. I am looking for a few extra mag also. Which reproduction mags are better to get? Please bear with me on all the questions I have. Edited by New2brass - Nov 08 2020 at 3:34pm |

Welcome. That’s a nice looking WRA would love to see more pictures. You would probably be better off with USGI mags which you could probably find here or on the CMP forum. Be very careful Carbines are very addicting.

Welcome.
I agree with kro, one GI Mag is probably better than 3 aftermarket mags. Just be patient and buy them as they pop up at a good price.

Thanks for the replies. I have pics of most of the w’s that are stamped on the parts. I’ll try and post some when I pull it apart to clean it. I will be keeping an eye out for us go mags then thanks for the input.

Hi and welcome to the forum from New Mexico!
A Winchester is a great place to start. From the pictures you've posted so far it looks like a post war rebuild that has mostly Winchester parts. The barrel band and rear sight are the only parts that look out of place. It originally had a Type 1 barrel band and a flip sight. Here's link to one that was sold by the CMP that is near your serial number to compare. https://cmpauction.thecmp.org/detail.asp?id=2280&n=M1-Carbine-Winchester-Bavaria-Forestry-Police-1329710 Hope you take the time to fill out and submit a CCC Data Sheet. Welcome
Don't blame us.
No cure known. Must buy more. Need much ammo. Must show all to fellow members. A full view of each side of your stock is needed. Nice score, Charlie-P777 |

Speedball... you know once you have one, you’re gonna want another and then another and then more ammo and then a bayonet and more ammo and then you are broke.
Welcome to the forums, you did good with your new toy.
