could there be a legitimate explanation for an M1 carbine having a receiver marked STD.PRO. yet bearing a serial number that lies within the range assigned on this website to Inland Division of GMC?
eg. STD.PRO. 2918758 this number lies outside the range assigned by this website to standard products, which only goes as high as 2352519. it does lie within the range assigned to Inland. the rifle in question is advertised as "all original configuration". the price is very high accordingly. any help would be much appreciated. |

Is it possible to post a picture of the serial number? Also could the second digit just be a light or partial strike making it appear to be a 9?

hello Wayne
thank you for your reply.
your suggestion was correct: the second digit was not properly visible in the original photo that I received from the vendor, who has now sent me a better photo. low and behold, the second digit is actually a 0 not a 9! the serial number (2018758) does therefore fall within the range assigned on this website to the manufacturer shown on the gun's receiver, standard products. I've learned alot here. Malcolm |
