03manV: I’ll try the tube sanding idea and see if I can do a reasonable job to fit a rear peep. Thanks.

 Marty - I’ll order a peep for the garand. Looks like there are versions comparable for USGI rear sights instead of a NM base. I think I’ll try a step smaller than the standard NM diameter to start. I hear you on the wider front sight for the ‘03 but a bit hesitant to do that right away because my 65 year-old eyeballs can still (mostly) make out that skinny post and because my ‘03 is as-issued with very little wear anywhere (be nice to keep it original). But maybe I’ll go that route if the smaller peep isn’t enough on its own.
