Hello all. Been lurking and reading up for a couple of weeks after a couple of carbines fell in my lap. Lots of great reading and I truly admire the level of detail here. It's really rewarding learning about the history of these time capsules. Can't wait to do some data sheets.
Just love how an all original gun shows its history and "talks" through the manufacturing process and finishes. Wear patterns of being carried and used. Marks of how it was racked and stored. Amazing how they show all this and more. A great gun is like reading a book.
Anyway, I'm a longtime collector of German and Finnish martial arms - both rather deep subjects. (also some misc US, English, and Russian) but have not done much at all in 10-15 years. Fun to be back into it with something so interesting. |

Hi and welcome to the forum from New Mexico!
Sounds like there might be a good story about how your carbines fell into your lap. |

Nothing too special of a story. Finally parceled and cleaned out the in-laws house - wife's father got them in the 60's through NRA/arsenals for $20 a piece. I found the paperwork as he kept everything including receipts. A man of his times. Since he used those while he was in the service, my guess is he had taken a liking to them.
One I have is a late 43 NPM, exc+ shape looks all correct (working on data sheet) One is a 6 digit Inland that is a mixmaster. He had another NPM, a Winchester, and yet another Inland. Those were post-war rebuilds but nice too. Other family members got those.
