I was going through my stash of parts and found five buttplates. I believe them to all be GI (and void of markings too annoyingly) however I would like to ask you all for IDs if possible. One of these plates is going on an OI high wood stock (T2) I have been rehabbing (bad crack and globbed in poly) as I have the rest of the correct metal for it, but am absolutely lost at plates. Thanks in advance!

USGI magazines are like potato chips, you can't have just one!

For identifying Butt Plates, try to take pictures straight on. For worn butt plates a picture of the rear sometimes tells the story.
1, May be for Inland/Saginaw 2. Underwood 3. May be late Winchester of the Inland/Saginaw. 4. NPM 5. Winchester QHMC usually has the obvious melted center look like your last picture, but if you look at the top and bottom rows you will notice half rows. Easier to see from the back. Late Winchester and the Inland/SG are similar and difficult to tell apart. I look at the 4 nubs in the center at 2:30, 4:30, 7:30, 10:30 Others turn over and count the outside columns up and down from the center, but it is not cut and dry, more of "about" numbers of nubs

True. Many of them look a lot alike and are hard to tell apart.
