My first M1 Carbine. Thanks to resources on this site able to identify the origin of most parts but would appreciate some help /comments.
Inland receiver produced approximately 8/44.
Inland barrel 2-44.
Type III front sight.
Inland Type II rear sight.
Type III bayonet lug. EMQ?
Inland trigger housing, not sure type.
Inland type V slide.
Recoil plate marking RIA?
Refurbished at Rock Island Arsenal, not sure identity of inspector cartouche. EC
Need help with stock markings under sling slot.

Impressive looking stock.  Looks hardly used.

I believe the "OI" mark in the sling well is S.E. Overton for Inland.  The mark on top of it might be a "flaming bomb" mark.

First, congrats! Nice looking carbine.
The stock cartouches and slingwell markings are reproduction. 8/44 on the receiver should be right, but the 2-44 barrel is likely not original to the receiver.

The stock is believed to be made by Marlin. You can see the M under the O that was stamped by someone.

That's a wee bit nebulous since all the stamps were done by someone. Yin Yang
Dan is saying the original stamping appears to be M U sideways (my addition) and the OI was stamped by someone to suggest it's an Inland stock.

Do you think stock is USGI or commercial after market?

stock is a USGI replacement.

Your bolt is a post war replacement. Circa 1951

If you are referring to the letter before the numbers shown on your slide, that is the letter D. It is from the blueprint drawing size.
The number would be on the drawing as well. We call that slide a L379  L479 which has an increased dwell. It was the latest and greatest if shooting.
There is a L479 L379 which is basically the same slide without a cam cutout for use with an M2 carbine, both work with the M1 as well.

For a better understanding of slide differences  you can look at the data sheets

Or the slide chart

How does she shoot?

Edit: corrections made

Thanks, appreciate all the replies. Just had time to pick it up and clean it this week. Discovering the background of the various parts has been a rewarding part of the process. Bought this carbine to shoot. Was able to get some Armscor ammo at a reasonable price (CA resident so mail order not an option, also ordered some 10 round mags), hope to get out and shoot next week.

While 90 to 95% of Inland carbines in the 5.45 range will have an 8-44 barrel, there are a few with 2-44, 3-44 and 5-44 mixed in.  The location of the P proof shown in the picture closer to the front sight implies the barrel was use on a later carbine.  So the barrel could be original to the receiver.

Your slide is indeed a type L479, type 6, made for full auto.

Thank you for the correction. Edit made.
The L479 is backward compatible and can be used in the M1 as well.
