Coded LJ. Can't find in books or newsletters. Is type 3 not cast.
NL 30 says 'unknown' but hoped someone might have nailed it down by now. Thanks |

Similar recoil plates marked "WJ" are said to be made for Jewell Brothers by Wadsworth Watch. Others were marked "PJ" possibly made by Packard for Jewell Brothers. Perhaps this one is in the same family. These were known to accompany Jewell Brothers replacement stocks. Bill Ricca posted info about this a few years ago but the links are no longer working. Here's a reference found on Milsurps.com,

On CMP forum in 2011 was similar statement regarding the LJ recoil plate by Mr. Ricca, "I do not know who the L is, it may be Lyman, but that information cannot be confirmed. The J was Jewell Bros. Jamestown Lounge had stock contracts with carbine makers, but there were no contracts for stocks or recoil plates with Ordnance." Couldn't locate any of Bill's "contracts" info on The Wayback Machine.

Following the same thinking, it might be concluded that the manufacturer may be M.S. Little Mfg. Co. of Hartford CT., but that information cannot be confirmed, either.
