I brought home an interesting souvenir from my trip to Cuba last February...a 1908 SA 16" bayonet in a WWII USN scabbard from an antique/junk shop in Havana.

I am torn between removing the rust and trying to preserve the wood or leaving as-is. Opinions and suggestions on the best way to clean it would be greatly appreciated.

If it were mine, I'd use bronze wool to remove the surface rust, then oil it up, or Renaissance wax it, and leave it alone at that point.

Just my $.02...
