I'm posting this in hope that someone will reference CCNL 213 from 1-Jul-1994 for the article "More Carbine Disassembly Mats." A member on another forum asked me for help with identifying an M2 Carbine disassembly mat that he has in his collection, and I found that while a similar mat is documented by Larry Ruth, this exact version is not in his books. I'm wondering whether it may have been documented in the CCNL referenced previously, or if it is a new variation.
I found a very similar item on page 668 of Larry Ruth's "War Baby II,"and the image in the book is of the same item layout, but is a negative image of the item above. The areas that are white on this one are dark on the item in the book. The item shown on page 668 was reportedly made for South Korean forces, and the caption indicates it is yellow paint on O.D. canvas. It looks a little odd in black and white. These are apparently marked "*TARS, Ft JAX S.C." just ahead of the barrel. The example above does not have this same marking, but it is the same otherwise. It is professionally mounted in a frame. Your thoughts? David Albert dalbert@sturmgewehr.com |

I'm sending this BTT, since a month has passed, and no one has replied. If any member with earlier CCNL's could please reference CCNL 213 from 1-Jul-1994 for the article "More Carbine Disassembly Mats," I would appreciate it. I want to see if this mat has been previously documented.
Thanks! David Albert dalbert@sturmgewehr.com |

The mat described in CCNL 213 has "63 Silk Screen Ft. Ord Calif." marked in the lower right hand corner. No picture.
