Hi everyone.  New member that already has a question about a marking on my Sag. S.G. 5841xxx gun.  I had it apart yesterday to finish making up it's Data sheet, and saw a marking i never noticed before in the bottom of the barrel channel......only it looks to be in ink, not stamped.   Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me, but I could swear I see at least "318xx".  Anyone else see it?  Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks.  That clears it up......didn't know that ANY manufacturer used ink for these.  I know Garands had dating stamps in the same area made by Overton for International Harvester, but nothing using ink.

I seem to see 5 numbers, starting with "318"......anyone with better eyes see the rest of it?  Or maybe only 4 numbers??

Looks like 5 numbers to me, maybe 31810 or 31870? Would love to see more pictures of your SG.

Yes, thanks......those were my guesses too.  I have NO idea what date that would relate to, though.

As for the pics of the S.G.  ....working on that.
