Just picked up an early 5 digit Inland receiver and now that my exicitement has waned I have a couple things that I’m curious about. This receiver has a hole in the rear of the receiver and my understanding is this is way early to have a hole. Underneath it looks as though when the spring guide hole was drilled it may have wandered a bit.
The rest of the receiver looks fine and I see no signs of anything shady. It has been refinished. Would the hole have been added during a rebuild? Any concerns? https://imgur.com/gallery/PK89F I’ll add more photos later. |

Yes, Hole was added during overhaul. Wandering bit happened. I do not see an issue unless spring binds.
It evidently passed inspection. those that did not due to run out were later salvaged by converting to springtube receivers
