Weather is bad and I'm bored. When I was younger, this would be good weather to watch a porn flick. At my age...it's now gun-porn.
Anybody have the correct free-length measurement of a spec. extractor plunger spring? I have a couple that measure .336 and .342 respectively. I know one of them is definitely bad, but I got it tossed-in with another one that might work in the parts bin...I think. I should have measured the one I put in the gun to correct the extraction problem I guess. I've ordered a couple, but I would like to know what a good one is suppose to measure. |

Thanks Charles. Looks like I have a couple to toss in the can. Glad I ordered some new ones. I plan to also replace the new-old-one I have in the carbine that had the extraction issue as well.
I learned early-on the first place to start with extraction issues is the extractor claw and the spring. I purchased a used commercial carbine on the cheap and discovered it would not extract, which is maybe why I got it on the cheap. It had a longer plunger and a shorter spring as compared to the USGI spec. I have only found that combination in one carbine and it was obviously done to lower the extractor tension. |
