Today was a good day at the local gunshow. I picked up a nice pile of stuff. Probably the most notable item was this NOS 30rd mag made by Inland.Marked A.I. . I've never seen one in the original wrapper like this. The mag appears to be in perfect shape and the wrapper has only one small tear.
Anyone ever seen one still in the original cellophane wrapper? When do we imagine this mag was made? Inland couldn't have been making them beyond 1946 right? |

The type III 30 rd mags were released in 1945, there were underlined AI marked type III's and IV's. Pages 582 and 583 of War Baby Comes Home describes the various magazine packing including the sealed cellophane with red lettering.

Nice find. However Inland did not make that magazine. Believe Autoyre (pronounced Auto wire) made them fro Inland.
There are reproductions with the same markings so buyer beware. I am not saying yours is one of those as I cannot see the required features. Also I do not know if the reproductions were wrapped or how. The fakes do not have the tapered and stepped T18 follower which I believe is shown in WB. |
