First let me start by saying if this isn't in the right place, Mods please move to appropriate place!
I was watching a video on youtube titled "M2 Carbine Operation" posted on 9 Aug, 2009 by adcosteve. It shows original footage of what I can only guess is one of the first M2s givinen to training dept (TRADOC) to make the operation film shown to troops! It good to see no rotary safety, bayonet lug, 2 rivet handguard, etc. what else does the more informed eye see? Enjoy! Https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-J-uNcwnXo |

No flip sight? wahhh
TF9-1445 The mix of early and later M2 parts suggests to me that this training film was made sometime in 1945 before the M2 officially went into mass production at Inland (and Winchester). |

Did anyone else notice the polygonal diamond shape of the select fire lever knob instead of the serrated cylinder I have seen? Look at the side by side comparison of the M1 & 2 in the beginning. It looks just like the large trainer mock up.

Yes, that (A) and the shape of the selector spring (B) are dead giveaways.

The T4 was the predecessor to the M2. The selector shown was for the T4 suggesting that the one in video was not a production M2. Possibly stock footage used to make the training film? Think adjustable rear sights would be on the T4 in late 44. M2 production was April 45 and all tested has late style band with bayonet lug Check out "The Carbine Learns to Rock & Roll" in War Baby starting page 237 An interesting look at the adjustable rear sight development http://www.uscarbinecal30.com/forum/the-m1a2-carbine-was-it-ever-issued_topic2832.html |

Ccnl 370 mentioned this video and the T4 vs the M2.
Explains time frame of the two. Explains it is a T4 in video and why |

So was there any usage outside of perhaps the original Hamisch and Sampson prototype of the funky looking disconnector? Was it ever "real" or just an artist's fanciful rendition in the patent?

The triangular selector was in fact made. Possible limited production to the T4s. They are pictured in WB series.
There is one on a carbine in a museum, believe England. Do not know if it was a M2 or T4. Might be in WB |
