I picked up an early QHMC this week - one of the first 10,000 made. It has some interesting features you don't see everyday and I thought I would share them here.
First is the large cartouche - larger than the one you'll find on Inlands. And the vertical RMC and smoking bomb in the sling cut. The "Q-RO" recoil plate instead of the more common "RO-Q". The spring tube with a prominent "Q" . . . . . . and three holes (Carbine Club Newsletter 324 says 3 slots was transition from tube with lug to without) And the swivel marked "QU" ("U" with serifs). I have a 1.89 QHMC with 8-43 barrel. It has those same splotches on the finish. Odd?

Here are some of the other parts:
T1 rear sight, S, GE-Q Flat bolt, EM-Q T1 firing pin, NL-Q T3 extractor, ST Q T2 operating slide, DA-Q Rock-Ola trigger housing, stamped (!) T3 LT-Q hammer with a hand-etched “R” Rock-Ola trigger Rock-Ola sear, with hole Rock-Ola mag catch, marked AR (I think) I expected a milled TH, dogleg hammer, and early sear. The front sight has been removed and a rather neat repair made to the barrel band. If I wanted to "correct" this gun it would be any easy fix. There is similar patina throughout and wear patterns appear consistent to me. I think the TH and components have been on the gun a long time. I'm leaving the gun as it is. |

Easy? Might need hammer and trigger inline with recoil plate!
