That is a hammer made by Utica Cutlery. I think it is thought to be a spares hammer through Quality, but do not think they have ever been found on a factory gun.
 
If you think about the letter system and it was a late hammer would it not be marked UQ?
 
sometimes these are seen lined out with U.C. added. this I believe was spares contract direct with Utica that they had left overs and restamped
