Hello All,
I'm looking for an appropriate nice type III stock or even a transitional type III stock. An appropriate 4 rivet Handguard would be nice to but not a must. I have a late war, 1-45 barrel dtd, Inland M1 carbine, SN: 6,797,XXX. It is a hand stamped "M1". And working to restore it. It currently resides in a commercial sliding but stock. |

I have had good luck with What a Country. Found a nice stock for a shooter grade Inland at a reasonable price.

Thanks Impalla12, I'll check them out!
In the mean time, I'm still looking for that golden splinter in the wood pile! I missed one Inland on Ebay that went for $308.87! I max bid $303.87, I should have bid more...

I have heard What a country was selling firewood. Anyone spending 300 on a stock I would think it was for a carbine that is correct with original band. Also there are factors that effect price such as band marks and rebuild marks.
If a mixmaster you are trying to get all correct parts you can utilize a stock with late band marks and rebuilds for a lot less!

New2brass, for my 1-45 hand stamped M1, the OI stock from Ebay with the earlier barrel band mark would have been fine for what is. I was a nice transitional type 3 with long barrel channel and no M2 cutouts. It even had the support bridge which made it a type 3 transitional. The only time one would have seen the earlier band mark would be on disassembly. Other than that it was a beautiful stock!

Let me look in my spare stock closet. I think I have two legitimate long channel Inland stocks, but with an M2 cut I believe. One thing I do know is that both of them have type III barrel band marks on it.
