This issue is amongst some of the harder to find PS issues. We would like to thank Eric at Nicolaus Associates for sharing this cleaned up version.
 22" X 30" poster available from www.NicolausAssociates.com

Eric is a long time serious collector of military manuals and publications. He also has a background in graphic arts. He started his website offering various reproduction manuals that are hard to find originals of. He does high resolution scans of each page and spends days and sometimes weeks cleaning them up and reconstructing them into a format that cannot be sold or mistaken as an original copy. When he prints them he uses a high grade heavy white paper then encloses them in a protective vinyl cover to protect them.

A number of collectors who have gotten to know Eric know he isn't doing the work for profit given the amount of work involved and the prices he charges. He does it out of an his interest in manuals and making the information available to those who can't find or afford the originals.

Personal experience with Eric has prompted Jim, author of the websites that this forum is attached, to locate, solicit loans, scan and share a number of rare manuals related to the carbines for Eric to clean up and make available. The intent being in line with the purpose of our website of sharing history. Jim refuses any kickback and won't take freebies. The goal is making the information available to all at a reasonable price that supports the work Eric does. Eric's primary focus is collecting manuals and publications. He derives his income from other than what he sells on his website. Collectors who share their rare finds are an excellent resource for everyone.

We don't endorse anyone but individually we may support those who help us accomplish our goals of making the information available to all. Particularly when their motivation isn't purely financial.

Anyone questioning his motives and background should have a look at his page on carbines, particularly the manuals Eric personally authored reconstructing the original Ordnance drawings of the M1 Carbine and M1A1 Carbine. This information would not have been available without Eric's work

A couple of items are not what we would expect to see on a M2 carbine. At least one item was discussed within the last year.

5 points to the person who can point it out.

Hmm, has a diagonal buttplate, type 4 slide (perhaps) and a type two barrel band. I have seen some early test M2's (T4's) that had type two barrel bands though. If it were a mainstream production M2 though you'd expect to see a type 3 barrel band though. There was an early Inland M2 long channel stock that was a non-potbelly. Just covering some bases!

I wouldn't expect to see "Bolt-Cracks", at least for long anyway
