picked this up awhile back....looking in the books I have, seems a little late for a 2 hole receiver and spring tube...(maybe a salvaged receiver?)....it is all early win down to slotted dog leg hammer.....Except it sports a Inland barrel dated 2-43....seems odd that the barrel is so early....barrel looks almost unused....the stock has two same font 2's 1 in front of mag well, the other in front of pistol grip...along with what looks like C30 on bottom of grip....maybe someone can input meaning...(must be some sort of rack numbers?)
showing as some collect sn...for data bases etc...
Thanks Al

still away but had a pic of rear site on my phone
any info on the "2"s in the stock......who applied rack numbers in that fashion...
Thanks Always trying to learn
Al

Type 1 receivers were reported up to about 1074xxx. I'd like to see more pictures of the barrel, barrel firing proof mark, barrel band, front sight, etc.

Winchester had a discrepancy in barrel thread specification early in production. See CCNL 336 and War Baby!, page 70. It may be too early for this carbine but it is something to check out.

well finally got around to getting back to this Win....I took the butt plate and out falls a note.....see pic.....there is no sn on the note....so it could have been another gun in this stock...anyone heard of W.J. Jones....also pics of barrel proofs and such.....there is a Ord Bomb on right side rear flat in front of chamber....I don't think was typical of Inland....and Win had Ord Bomb on gas cyl.....spare part barrel that early?.....
Thanks again for any input help...
Al

As far as the "2" rack markings, they could be military, or from Law Enforcement use. You will likely never know for certain. It's very common to find these types of rack markings on LE guns.
