Howdy!
I was an "Army Brat" and so grew up all over the country. I currently live and work in one of the many suburbs north of Dallas. My father introduced me to the M1 Carbine. He carried one in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He gave me a Universal Carbine when I turned 16. I've been in love with them ever since. My collection was liquidated (without my knowledge) to pay for graduate school so I am currently left with just an Iver Johnson in 5.7mm Johnson. I've been trying to figure out how to load for it ever since I got it more than 30 years ago. If anyone is familiar with it and is willing to share knowledge, please let me know. Thank you. |

Welcome! Sorry to hear about your collection, but you can always start a
new collection. Having an IJ is a good start. Lot's good information
about commercial carbines including your IJ here:

As m1a1fan has already demonstrated, you have found the right place to learn about what you have and to study-up for future purchases. Welcome to the forum.

hdwhit,
We do have a 5.7mmj (spitfire) as well and do load for it. Is a fun cartridge and shoots quite well. Do believe their is not many who have or load for this cart. We would be most happy to share with what we have learned. We do not load 'hot', have found out our 'mouse' loads shoot and function quite well. Our 5.7 is a 'rebarreled' Winch, was done quite a few years ago when the carbines were not so well liked as today. Would like to bring back to 'org' with a winch barrel but have 2 other '30's' to play with, a IBM and NPM. Look forward to share. Cheers, Woof woof Gus an me (Dave)
