I have # 1,735.932. I have both a type A beveled checkered and a Type A plain face which one do you think is correct or is it a coin toss ??

Most of what I have read says the plain face came in mid first block.

Any thoughts ??

TIA Chris

All the original ones that I have seen in that range were plain face.

Chris , I would use the plain face type 2 for that serial number , It wouldn't be unusual to see a serrated at that serial range . Serrated type one were used mainly early first block until around 1.68mill when type 2 smooth face started to show up . The latest serrated i have seen was on a 4.5 original rifle ..
