I'm wanting to get an original Paratrooper case for my M1A1 carbine. I don't want to get burned on a reproduction. What are the differences I could look for between an original and a reproduction? Any pictures that could be posted would be great. Thank you for any and all help!

There are a few makers that are known reproductions. I will have to dig. other than that you would have to look at condition and age. vs thrown into the dirt and rolled up to make look old. On that topic, does anyone know the purpose of the small look of webbing on the back of the case? Works well for hanging on a chair.

Thank you! According to the Riesch book the following companies manufactured the cases.
ATLAS AWNING CHATTA AWN & W.D. CO. ALLTEX PRODUCTS INC. CARTER BROS.INC. R.B. HANSON MFG. CO. HAV. STCH.CO. HARLAN M-D MFG. CO. SHANE MFG. CO. This eliminates some of the reproductions. |
