I have a Standard Products M1 Carbine that is 100% original through out. I've had this M1 since 1965 and haven't fired it in almost 50 years. If anyone would care to see some photos I'd be glad to post some here. Big Coulee |

Welcome to the forum, we would love to see some pictures. Have you filled out and submitted a Data Sheet on it?

Wayne ----- I'll attempt to complete the Data Sheet as much as I'm able but there are so many items on the sheet that I have very little knowledge about. Will all these items have to be answered before I can post the photos of my M1 Carbine. I'm not a carbine collector just an accumulator. Big Coulee |

Data sheets help the club with research, they are also a great tool in helping a carbine owner become very familiar with the carbine it is completed on.
As far as pictures, you can post your pictures whenever you want to.

Wayne ----- Thanks for all the above tips on picture taking. My camera is a very simple type and does not have many of the features mentioned in the tips. I believe the best I'll be able to do is take my pics in a light that doesn't produce shadows and try to get as much resolution as possible with the camera. I've also watched the video on the various M1 carbine parts to assist in filling out the Data Sheet. I don't care to strip my M1 totally down to determine the type of all small parts as shown in the video. I want only to field strip the carbine and photo the major parts with their part numbers and the maker's code letters. Would such a strip down and limited data information be allowed on the data sheet? Thanks Big Coulee |

If its a fairly recent camara, the resolution may be much higher than can posted online. If you want to have a high resolution versoin for your own use and then shrink it to upload that's fine. But if the shrinking step is difficult, then a photo that is between 600 (small object) and maybe 1200 dpi in width should upload to the website. (Mods can correct me if I've stated something not so.)
Post some photos up as you go along. People here will help you. I think a lot of us have done or redone our datasheets after posting phots and asking questions! Looking at Featured Carbines with data sheets and photos also helped me. |

720 DPI wide is the maximum display on this forum. If it is wider the software downsizes what you see, so basically using excess space and bandwidth. Not a big deal as long as it is under the file size requirements in bytes.

We always help. People who want to help might want to go take a look at the support that Big Coulee just gave the main person who runs all Carbine people down over on another forum. On every Carbine thread over there Coulee posts about his original unmessed with Carbine. And now makes a derogatory comment about all Carbine people who like original unmessed with Carbines?

Knows rear sights
Thanks for reading my post and commenting on it. I made no "derogatory" statement concerning people or their carbines. I only pointed out that folks who are serious collectors tend to have very little regard and look down on those of us who like to accumulate and shoot our more "run of the mill" M1 carbines. Yes, I have what appears to be a !00%, unmolested Standard Products M1 carbine that I would like to post some photos of here on this forum. I'd look forward to reading what some of you might comment on my M1, good, bad or indifferent. I don't suppose I'd receive very many good comments. |

Totally false and denigrating to almost every serious Carbine collector! You just negatively labeled everyone who has helped you. You only know what "folks who are serious collectors" have told you. I was there from the beginning of your inquiries about your Carbine. You can ask milpril what you need to know as far as I'm concerned.

Coulee in light of some recent info, let me reword the above to soften it. I cant edit it.
But, we here and those others like myself who helped you ID what you had on Gunboards are the people you are labeling. Milpril has led you astray about who we are. The guy is holding a grudge because of an M1A1 deal we exposed him on. He can't tolerate people pointing this out and hates Carbine people for our keeping him from selling a replacement parts folding stock at a WW2 stock price as he was saying it's just as good as the originals. It's not. That happened on the CMP forum about 8 years ago. Ever since, he hates us. The people he describes don't hardly even exist.

I will say as a newbie here and a new collector that I have received nothing but help from anyone on here. Don't confuse honesty with being a stuck up collector. These guys know their stuff and where I come for real truthful information on anything. Everyone here is as excited to see an 100% original just as much as one that has been modified and beat to hell. Each individual carbine part has story.
