From what I can see it looks to be a nice one.
The markings in the barrel channel are consistent with later Inland used stocks.

Can you post a picture of the bolt lug and the slide arm joint.

What orientation is the trigger housing logo ?

Your barrel band if you look close is the letter A over S

Few things you may want to check on your DS and update if verified on the rifle:

- bolt lug shape pointed not rounded?
- firing pin type (assuming you don't have a bolt tool to disassemble the bolt for FP/Extractor markings?)
- slide is L379B (7160091)
- top view mag well rear wall is Wide?
- inland logo on TH is vertical?
- marking on face of mag catch?
- front sight shapes is likely a 1 given N sight
- 4 rivet HG should be shallow groove
- sear spring is likely a taper end
- slide stop may be the late style?
- as D pointed out band marking is likely AS triangle

I list color not as the finish type but appearance, e.g. gray green, dark green, black, etc.

Congrats looks like you've got a nice one.

In the Barrel section.
My suggestion is to write random stamped numbers and letter.
Or put down the numbers and letters that can be made out like 2 and U.
Same with the stampings inside the forestock

In the Slide section, join the letters and numbers together.
Looks like it would be L279

Colors of the finishes can be difficult.  The trigger looks to me like its blued black, as is the the magazine catch.  Use those to judge other finishes.

Look through Carbines of the collectors and newsworthy items forums to find some data sheet examples.

OK, here goes....and I probably didn't answer as well as you wanted.....
.  Bolt lug is pointed
. no bolt tool for an answer
. slide is 7160091
. TH Logo is VERICAL
. Mag catch marked SI
. guess the HG is shallow
. don't know about sear spring
.slide stop?
. Band marking is AS in triangle

So, is it appropriate at this point to ask its value?  Not to sell, my boy would have a fit....

Thanks for all the input thus far guys. Much appreciated.  I got a bunch of IA 15 rd mags, carriers, flash hider, etc with it years ago.  And a can of ammo in bandoleers to boot!

Should it have a Bayonet lug or no?

A 5.4 should have a type 2 band, no bayonet lug.

Did you see these?

First step after opening the forum's photo manager is to browse your computer's file system for the photo you want to post.  On a newer Windows system you might have to go through your photo library.
