    Posted: Jun 04 2021 at 10:12pm
Went to a gun action preview this evening, left shaking my head. There were 4 USGI carbines listed, Saginaw, Inland, Rock-ola, Saginaw. Turned out the 1st Saginaw is really a Standard Prod and the Rock-ola is really a NPM, not the 1st time this auction house has mistaken manufacturers. 3 of the carbines (SP, Inland, Saginaw) are RTI imports, but someone tried to hide that fact by grinding off the import markings on the SP and Saginaw both of which are mix masters and the bore on the Saginaw was blocked by something, maybe a goat turd or bed bugs. Despite the RTI marking on the Inland it appeared to be an all original 5.4. (may end up bidding on it tomorrow). The Postal Meter 4.09 is mixed parts, wrong recoil plate screw and a roll pin for the front sight pin ( I am a sucker for NPM's so if the price is right may bid), they also have some ammo, looked like about 1000 rnds mostly Korean surplus (again if the price is right, may bid). Really not sure how someone could think that trying to grind off an import marking is better than leaving it alone.

Hi Wayne,

Good luck with the auction tomorrow. Hopefully there's no "auction fever," and you get some good deals. Don't miscalculate the buyer's premium...

One good thing with these guys David, there is no buyers premium. We will see how it goes, not really willing to go too high for any of these.

Turned out the auction was terrible, filled with stupid bidders and this time I was not one of them! Big smile
Mixed part Standard Products with the RTI import stamp ground off went for $1000.
The original 5.4 Inland with RTI import stamp went for $1300 (I dropped out at $1000).
The mixed part NPM went for $1000.
The pathetic Saginaw with the blocked bore and ground off import stamp went for $950.
Watched a lot of people inspect the carbines before and during the auction and was surprised to see no one that I saw inspected the bore.

Bummer. Better luck next time. The prices don't sound bad overall, compared to what are probably comparable Carbines coming up for sale in various sales venues.
