Hi all, Over the years I have had dozens of carbines. Had to sell most of them also. Anyway, I am piecing one together now. I recently bought an operating slide and did not notice this until I put it together. The slide does not have the slide stop. I mean no hole for it. Question is, Is this an early one?, commercial or what?

Sounds commercial for sure. Won’t stop it from working, if it works. The few times I have tried a commercial slide on a USGI receiver it usually needed tweaking.

Might even be homemade. Years ago Numrich sold unfinished slide castings. Maybe the "manufacturer" of your slide was lazy. Won't affect funtion in any meaningful way. Most receiver rails where the pin engages are so worn the stop doesn't work well anyway.

I definitely don't trust a finger to mine.

Thanks all. It came from SARCO. It has been setting here about 2 months and I just decided to put it on.  I wasn't sure if it may be a very early one. I only know the basics about Carbines. Heck, no big deal, the receiver is a NAT ORD anyway.

Well, SARCO says it all... I came up short one too many times with that outfit. Have not ordered from them for years.
