I recently picked up a nice carbine.  It came with a second stock. Pretty sure it is foreign.  left side of stock has a cartouche about an inch tall, located in front of the sling/oiler cut-out,  it is a rectangle, inside the rectangle, there is a star. then FAT, then 76.  Stamped on the bottom of pistol grip there is a 2.

any help appreciated.

thank you.
Good Shootin!!

The FAT 76 stamp is an Italian Arsenal stamp, "Fabbrica d' Armi a Terni. That stamp does not mean that the stock is foreign made.

Wayne is of course correct. Look for other markings so we can identify the manufacturer. Check in the sling-well.

Fabbrica d'Armi a Terni carbines are usually very nicely finished. Look on the top of the barrel just in front of the receiver for their stamp. Many carbines sold by the CMP in 2008 were Italian returns.

The gun itself is a Winchester.  The second stock is the item we are discussing. Thanks
