I was wondering if anyone has observed Standard Products stocks made by Hillerich & Bradsby Co., with ink stamps under the butt plate with the month and day , (I assume of manufacture) stamped on them? My rifle is stamped Nov. 29 I have taken several photos with different aperture settings to try to highlight the stamping. |

Just checked my SP, about 5K numbers earlier, and sadly no marks beneath buttplate.

Jangle, Here's some pics from my 2108362 STD PRO, very close to yours.
I'm embarrassed to say that I never had the butt plate off before. I really had to dig in with my finger nails to get it off. You have to use your imagination but something might be there I think. 'DEC' maybe? |

Well, I saw a dark smudge on mine but figured it was just oil. Maybe not? What do you think?

Very interesting!
Dave, It sure looks as if your stock also exhibits letters/numbers as well. When viewing my stock straight on in natural light it is a non-legible blurry mess. I really had to play with aperture settings and different angles to get shots as good as these were. I'll include a straight on shot to show difference. It will be interesting to see if more of these are brought to light. |

What if you looked at it with red light? Wonder what it would look like with a PVS-14 and it's internal IR illuminator?
