That's a Cowles post war replacement band. Those I've seen were a lighter color parkerized. I have some bands with very dark parkerizing though that look black, one is an SA.

Ok gents, thanks very much.

If it's ok, I got one more related question for you guys from that same thread on ar15.com

According to my reading all barrel bands were parkerized. However, an ar15.com member's carbine appears to have a "C" marked blued barrel band.

Was this ever done during a re arsenal process? Or do you think somebody did this at home DIY?   Thanks a bunch in advance guys!

The Q marked Type III barrel bands were made by QHMC as a replacement part from June 1944-June 1945.

It's a "Q" marked band, I've got a NOS one. The larger "O" going through it must be some manufacturing anomaly.

Hello gents, I've got a question that popped up on ar15.com about the marking on a type III barrel band.

I'm not even sure if it's a letter, symbol, or perhaps a mis stamp.

Here it is.....

Thanks in advance as usually for the great information!
