Agreed.... Beautiful stock
Looking like it has the 'Bump' from another carbines Op slide handle.
Is it marked OI in the slingwell ?
Just curious if it may be a Integrated stock ??
Low wood ?

Anyone know if the later Hand Guard would be correct ?
I know this ones close to that Transitional slot.

Would like to see more pictures, Thx for sharing it.

PS: " (Shiny) "...  Might have been a bit of BLO rubbed on it years ago.
I'd leave as is........... too nice to mess with.

Yep, a 12-43 sounds right.

Presentation stocks didn't have the CC as the rifles weren't accepted by the gov., but that stock is equal to other fancy grade presentation stocks that I've seen.

I used to make my own gun stocks for cap and ball Kentucky rifles and that is what I looked for in the blanks. You have a choice piece of wood there.
Could be a presentation or just a lucky find. The finish looks original.

Beautiful stock! For the 4.8M serial range, a 12-44 barrel is very late, I suspect it may have been changed? Mid 6M serial rifles with this barrel date have the type 3 band. Need close up pics of the parts to assess further.

I picked this up at a gun show many years ago. From what I can tell it's all at it should be. Ser. range 4890800 and bbl 12/44 .Could this be a presentation stock.? What do you think. Does not look sanded but does have shiny hard finish.
  Thanks
