I have read that some butt stock pouches "pockets" fit the 15 round magazines better than others. Does anyone have a recommended vendor for a USGI or reproduction pouch currently being sold that will fit for sure?

I bought this repo one from Amazon. USGI and Korean mags fit fine and it fits over the stock, too. Cheap and works. I hope I don't get too many tomatoes thrown at me for suggesting a repo pouche for the range.

Thanks Paul. I started collecting magazines in between CMP carbines, especially after they disappeared. And then started on the mag pouches when I started running out of different magazines to add to my collection. I'm still a little mad at myself for selling off an Updike Awning Co. pouch before I started to seriously collect them. Now I can't find one.

Does anybody know of a T1 magazine pouch that isn't on my list?

I couldn't find the pouch, but if their prices I see are any indication, I don't think I need that particular pouch that bad. Thanks though Paul.

Notice something unusual here?

I found a couple of people on the  USmilitaria forum who have seen the same.

Two 1944 Avery examples in first post.
Carbinepouches2.jpg

Whether the binding is Nylon,  Rayon, or another more plentiful wartime sythetic fiber I can't say.   It's fairly stiff which raises some doubt about it being one of the softer synthetics.  Also with nylon was being diverted for specific military needs, its hard to fathom why it would be used for cloth tape when cotton canvas was serving well.

Could be as manufactured, but I'd also believe later repair.   Funny thing is none of the examples show wear.   :)

There is a guy, username mrrm, who is selling NOS WWII ('43 & '44) Boyt and I think Hansen stock pockets on the CMP for sale and trade listings (M-1 Carbine section). Had quite a few a couple days ago.

I have several 1942 made pockets and I think they are a great part of the "All Hands On Deck" effort of American Companies to support the War effort.

This is a Repro "pocket" (Dan you happy :-)

On USGI WW2 era pockets, the Button snap is offset to the right of center on the backside of the pouch/pocket. This Repro's is centered and that's one way to tell if its an original USGI piece or not.

Unfortunately I've seen at least one reproduction with the snap offset.  The good thing is they did list it as a reproduction.  Also look at the main snap.  Shouldn't be just a flat plate on the back side.

The pouches (and other accoutrements) marked JTL are all reproductions.

I once paid more than $71 for a Type 4 "banana mag" pouch. It did include two near-mint SEY 30-rounders however.

I just bought a 1944 and a 1945 Avery both with the nylon piping as part of a deal to get a Parfait 1945 T2 pouch that I did not have in my collection. I'm up to 26 unique WWII T2 pouches and 39 T1 "stock" pouches, not counting duplicates. It is getting really hard to find any of the few I am missing.
