IR Replacement stock or a RSG

Either way a stock made by the Irwins,

Best guess is a IR replacement.

***** Why does my post have to be looked over and OK'd by a Mod ?

To get a good answer the experts here need several more pics of the stock. Close up of any markings. Is it high wood, low wood, low wood modified? The only thing the pic shows is the recoil plate with some kind of stamp, can't make it out. That alone does not tell anyone who made the stock since there were many companies who made recoil plates. Many more pics, please.

I can name that tune with just one note.

But will see if anyone else can.

They passed inspection. Some guys bed the plates, evididently the design did not need contact in that area.

If you haven't already. you need to remove ALL of the metal and carefully look over the entire stock for any markings. Remove that recoil plate to see if any marks on the under side.

Charles, more clues. The recoil plate is unmarked. It has an early Winchester butt plate but it's not a Winchester stock. There are also markings in the sling well but that would give it away.

Well after trying to figure this out for the last 7 hours, with the help of all the WB books and the CCNLs, I officially give up! I failed this quiz. Now I have to go mow the yard in the hottest part of the day. Hopefully someone posts the correct answer so I can sleep tonight!

Sorry Wayne. It's hot here too. Stage 2 fire alert here in the mountains. No shooting outdoors until we get a little rain. Wifey doesn't like me shooting indoors so I guess I'll be spending more time here on the forum.

Is that a Dutchman patch pieced in between the oiler slot and butt plate ?

I have quite a few pictures of Irwin made stocks that have similar repairs in many different areas on their stocks.
