I plan on using 30-round magazines exclusively on my Auto Ordnance AOM 130. I have heard from two camps:

a) I'll need to replace the factory magazine catch with a new M2 unit, or

b) The factory catch will serve quite well.

Opinions, input?

30 round magazines aren't always the most reliable in particular carbines.

Why not eliminate a possible issue and use the M2 catch?
30 round magazines have the third locking nub that the M2 catch was designed to help support the extra weight of the 30 round magazine. Also won't interfere when using the a 15 round magazine.

USGI or Korean 30 round magazines would be the most reliable. Other commercial magazines many times don't work.

I looked up an article called "The Sheepdog Project" about the A/O Carbine that informed me that I will need to replace, the M2 Magazine catch. Thank you, Bonnie, for your input.

It is very easy to do Cpt, but take it out of the stock, and place do it where you can find the saftey spring and plungers when you guff, and they go flying.... I replaced my mag catch, and safety... :)

You can find them and buy at Fulton Armory, they aren't very expensive and are made to GI specs.
