May 2016-C I’VE GOT A MONKEY ON MY BACK!
Thanks to historian Martin K. Morgan for submitting this unusual photo of a GI with a scoped carbine and a monkey on his back!
The soldier is unidentified; all that is known about this photo is that it was taken in Vietnam. The scope was not a standardized accessory for the carbine.
Unfortunately, we cannot determine its type nor method of mounting.
Perhaps a reader can identify the scope. Marty Black

Seems monkeys have an affinity for M1 Carbines. The stocks are Hollywood, the rifles are M1 Carbines.
