I’m at work right now and don’t have War Baby at my fingertips. Was there a recorded transfer of stocks from Inland to National Postal Meter early in NPM’s production? Found this rrally interesting stock riding on an Austrian/Bavarian return carbine. Highwood, I cut, with very early Inland markings in the sling well and NPM inspector cartouches stamped way forward of the usual spot. Anyone seen something like this before??

Yep...sure did. Inland sent NPM 1,000 stocks on 09/03/1942. Then, sent 50 stocks on 11/09/1942.
Never seen that. Almost like they were stamping a Garand, except the other side. Awesome!

It's interesting that, according to WB, NPM did not pilot-test their first carbines until January 1943 and did not ship their first until late February 1943. So, I guess Inland was stocking them up (pun intended) pre-production until they could get Trimble online.

Did your stock recently come to you on a carbine purchased through gunbroker?

I believe your stock is THE stock I posted. It was married to a Saginaw bavarian return.
