Recently acquired M1 Carbine. The story is it was brought
back from Germany after the war and always has been a one owner. I do believe
the later part but am unsure and looking for help. Any help would be
appreciated. Serial number under
the rear site INL DIV. 374568 Barrel Inland MFG. DIV General Motors 4-43 Stock has straight oiler
slot Left side below rear
sight: AAQ Left side front of
Cheek rest: AN Front of pistol grip
area: R Upper hands guard is
2 hole Front site stamped: lS Front sling band stamped:
JM Rear sight stamped: l.R.CO Mag release stamped:
M Bayonet lug base
stamped: EM-O Trigger/ Hammer
assembly stamped: Inland (encircled by a line) Charging handle block
Stamped: W and has number 7160091 Charging handle
inside stamped on slant: PI Barrel base in front
of receiver Stamped (starting at barrel end):
s3 C Uz (Sideways with an ” I” in the middle of
the U) followed by Stamp: L then followed by an interesting symbol The base of the feed ramp stamped: S Bolt is stamped N 14 Hammer is stamped H Safety is a switch safety

From the AAQ and AN along with barrel band your carbine has been though two rebuilds.
It is typical to have a mix of parts not original to receiver at this point. Barrel band, rear sight, mag catch have been updated. Slide is a latter improved example. It was made for Inland and the W is believed to be inspectors mark. I would be very interested in seeing pictures of the receiver marks. Value would be based on it be what we call a mixmaster, meaning not original nor correct. Value based on actual condition.
The marks are if interest for the carbine world. To some it may detract interest, just the same adds interest to some collectors. Early on some removed bavarian marks which in my opinion brings the value down. Post pics tutorial should be a sticky in all forums, if not it is in the top section.
