Good one Wayne. Same suit, same carbine.. Probably taken on the same day.

That's a high quality looking stock....

So our consecutive day picture posting streak ended with day 64, it was fun while it lasted, thanks to all who kept it going for so long.

Maybe you've seen this one before. USMC Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone was the only enlisted Marine to receive both the Medal of Honor and the Navy Cross during World War Two.

Thank you, sir, for not defiling the Medal of Honor with word 'Congressional'. I salute you. Thumbs Up Beer

We had a member do an article on Metal of Honor recipients that specifically cited use of a carbine

Hate to jump back a day, but did anyone pick up that the carbine in Day 63 has a low wood I-cut stock? I saw that and thought it was kind of interesting for a ~1944 photo.

Can't tell that it's low wood. He's moving it and the image is blurred.

Is it just my eyes, or can anyone else make out the faint image of an Inland cartouche
on the butt stock too?  Looks to be in about the right position for an Inland.

The guy in the easy company photo is holding something? Is it an MG? If so, what kind?

I think the GI to the right is holding a carbine.  I liked the guy front and center of the pic. THE CAMPAIGN IN SICILY 1943 Gen. George S Patton and staff officers at an unidentified Sicily location.

Yep, I would say the guy on the far right has a carbine. The third guy looks like he is holding a holster with a carbine butt hanging out as well. Cool pic!

I believe that is a rifle scabbard that the carbine is in.

The carbine (Jeep) scabbard had the two straps very close to each other. There was a third strap at the muzzle end, which I cannot see.

The rifle (Garand) scabbard had the two straps but they were several inches apart. Looks like one of the straps is in his hand.
