Bought 3 of the junk stocks from JLG, I've done this a few times now, not because I think these stocks are great but it gives me practice cleaning them up, I then sell them at a local antique mall that I have a booth at. They actually sell pretty good. Any way need some help IDing the butt plates that came on these 3. I know what the one on the left is because it is marked on the side. Not sure about the middle on and I think the right one is an Underwood??

What are the markings on the edge of the left buttplate? S’G’ or IP? The one on the right is not Underwood.

Thanks, butt plates are hard for me, all I see is spots! PM-IP unfortunately it's pitted right over the marking.

Agreed QHMC and Howa.
I keep the Inland vs Underwood picture handy for quick reference. Along with some others. A few pictured below that may help some. Inland plates have a larger checkered diamond. If you count the dots in a 1" run you'll see that Inlands have 11 diamonds per inch vs. 13 per inch on Underwood plates. S-S3 Standard plates sometimes have a Splatter pattern Early RMC plates can be found with 1 or 2 dots missing at the 3'0'clock position. Mid-Late RMC with dots missing at roughly the 12,6,7,8,9 and 10 'o' clock positions. Odd Buttplate and Recoil plate on a WRA stock with Korean paint job: Stamped Inside out GI Buttplate: I have more, but just wanted to add a few examples. Charlie-P777

Thanks Charlie, I see that is is a Howa now. Pretty happy with the IP butt plate especially since the stock cost $24.95. The stocks I received were in pretty good shape, 2 S/A's and an unmarked potbelly that appears new/unused.
