When a m1 carbine has a gas piston blows out with damage is the barrel basically junk or is there a way to fix them? I'm sure there's a lot of variables to this question but if you want it for a shooter is it never going to be that.

I'd use it for a grounding rod and purchase another barrel.

Lol. That's what I was figuring. Just wanted to see if maybe it was something that was commonly fixed. As of now it's not mine but was a little excited because it's an early 43 Underwood and I've been looking for an Underwood barrel in this range for a long time. 3/43-6/43 Underwoods barrels forsale seem to be non existent

Just my opinion, perhaps someone more knowledgeable on the subject will have a different opinion but a repair could cost as much or more then a N O barrel depending on how bad the damage is.
